For engagement is not necessary to have dais, in fact in wedding also is not necessary. It just depends on what you want. Initially I don't want any dais for my engagement later but I keep spending my free time browsing bride to be blog and now I've been tempted. Before this all I want when the sarung cincin ceremony is the solemnization pillow. The round white pillow which ppl call it ottoman pillow. I already booked it from a bridal boutique by the way. Hee. Since I already booked the pillow and my budget is quite tight so I unable to locate any more budget for dais from outside vendor. So what to do? DIY of course. But it is not easy ppl. It needs a lot of effort and for sure money.
I googled mini dais or mini pelamin for my inspiration. Take a look at below pictures. Oh by the way, I've talked to my mom and she said cannot nail anything on her wall. Haihhh. So need to come out with new idea. Have a look at below mini dais inspiration:
my ottoman pillow is like this. the different is on the button. mine is the diamond one (not really diamond) |
how awesome is this? just use the mattress and arrange the cushion pillow nicely |
this is perfect for me because it is doable :) don't need to nail anything just use the curtain at the sliding door |
okay this doesn't need any curtain. simple and sweet! |
i want my dais to have this tone of color which i think impossible so I guess just keep it for wedding later *adore the tissue flower* |
this is also doable! yey. |
hihi. no need to nail on the wall also. awesome. |
see what's important is the lighting! |
So what are the things I need for the mini dais DIY? From my rough observation, the most important things are:
- lighting effect (need to have spotlight lamp. will take idea from here)
- white wool carpet
- a lot of flowers
- items that able to make the dais sparkle. it could be from the glass vase, the chandelier or any deco item.
I guess for mine I won't have the platform because so lazy to rent it. It is sufficient to buy the wool carpet or something similar to it because from my survey, the wool carpet cost around RM200 for the smallest one.
Now need to find wool fabric.
Till then. Assalamualaikum.
