My Sister Wedding

>>  25 March 2014

My lil sister just got married last Saturday. It was a simple wedding with most of the preparation were last minute. She is so lucky to have 3 big sisters and a devoted mom who help her throughout the wedding. It was a bit chaos the day before. By the way, she is still studying so the in the beginning the idea of her getting married was so unacceptable. I really really hope there's nothing coming through and obstructing her study.

So a little bit about the last minute preparation.

She actually bought a princess cut dress for the day (means she planned to only wear one outfit) from online facebook friend. This friend however only delivered the dress one week before the wedding day and her craftsmanship was so bad. It was so bad until my sister cried. So she returned back the dress to that friend and ask for refund. Thank goodness that friend agreed. So she bought a baju kurung for her solemnization and rent a dress for the reception. The solemnization baju kurung was quite simple so I sew a little bit of lace and beads onto the dress like below picture.

I haven't sew the beads yet in this picture
I also added headpieces for her.

Try and error
In the initial discussion, we agreed to not give any hantaran since both are student so we didn't think they should spend money on hantaran. But suddenly 4 days before the day, the groom said there will be hantaran from his side and told my sister not to tell my mom. What?? Of course we need to give the hantaran too. After discussion with my mom, we agreed to give 3 foods and 2 items.

We bought all the hantaran (cheesetart, fruits, chocolate, shirt, sejadah)only on the day before the wedding. Haha. For the hantaran decoration, I just bought flowers since I still have a lot of remaining decoration item from my wedding. The hantaran decoration was done by me and my kak yong.

Despite the chaos day before the wedding day and solemnization and reception were on the same day, things went quite smooth on the wedding day. The solemnization finished quite early even there were 4 other couples and wakalah were on the same day. The Tok kadi were so fantastic and managed to finish all akad by 10 am! How great was that!

Ok some picture from the wedding.

waiting for akad. she wore my legendary veil. haha
stole this picture from her friend
her second outfit. this outfit was actually follow the silhouette of her body, so we added a shawl at the back. notice the cape-like there. stole this picture too
hantaran from both side. it was 5 vs 5.

and meja makan beradab. she forced us to take this picture haha
Congratulation Fatin, hope you can finish your study as per planned and at the same time be a good wife.

Amin.

Before I go, here my boos picture.

DIY : Fabric Covered Canvas

>>  25 March 2013

I had a DIY weekend last Saturday and Sunday. The first DIY was fabric covered canvas. I had one canvas picture which was so ugly and didn't deserve any space at my house. So instead of throwing it out to our store, we figured might as well do some DIY and turn it into fabric covered canvas. So we did!

First we searched for the right fabric for the canvas in Nagoya. We were going for cotton fabric or fabric that usually used for the curtain, thick and heavy fabric. Among the fabric for the curtains, we found a few that we like. The prices were around RM11.50 to RM24.90. The cotton fabric was a bit sheer, unable to cover the picture which already at the canvas. After a few minutes, we finally found the one.

Hee. Let's see the before and after picture.

Before.

After.

It is a zebra pattern. So bright and fresh. That was what we were going for.

We only used glue gun to attach the fabric. People normally used stapler gun but I don't have it so I just use the glue gun. DIY is about using what you have right? Haha.

This was the first DIY of the weekend.

Will post about the second one soon.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

wedding sign

>>  28 June 2012

I am so free now. Don't have any project on hand. Just waiting for information from the client. Now can do dais sketch, can survey about wedding, can sketch my nikah outfit, can even do budget for my fiance. Oh life, just be like this until next week. Hehew.

Onto wedding, I'm gonna DIY wedding sign later. It is one of the decoration I want for my wedding. Would like to put it at the walkway to welcome the guest and to add more spice in the wedding. And FYI, my wedding is a small wedding, just gonna invite maximum 500 ppl. If only I can further reduce the guest size, it will become my dream intimate wedding. Hee.

These are my inspiration.

go to her blog to know how she did it. click here

So what I'm gonna write on the wood?

Secret!

Hee.
Can't wait to do this! It's gonna be fun.

Love love.

Review : My DIY Veil

>>  25 June 2012

Since I'm free so I wanna review on my DIY veil. It took a lot of effort to do the veil because I'm not the kind of person who know how to sew. A lot of my friends were truly amaze when I informed them I did the veil on my own. Yes, I'm proud. :P

For that, I wanna record how I did it in this blog. Hehew.

can see the top detail of my veil

this is how it look like from behind

The bottom part of the veil actually looked better in real life. Well it took me 2 days (at night only) to complete the bottom part. Was so tired! Anyhow, I felt so happy when it finish.

So how I did it?

First, buy the necessary item:

1) The chiffon fabric - bought from Jakel at RM29.90 for 1 meter. It was 60" long. Not the 45".
2) The lace - bought from Nagoya at RM33 for 1 meter. I choose the one that got beads so that it can make my veil more sparkle.
3) The pearl beads - bought the white and peach beads. Each was 100gm (cost around RM12/100 gm). So worth it! I still have a lot left.

Second, cut the chiffon fabric

I love the D shape of veil. So I made the D pattern on newspaper. Put it on top of the chiffon fabric and set it with needles. I ask my mom to cut it ( because I'm not so good in cutting fabric). Haha.

Third, send it for border sewing
Or jahit tepi. Only cost RM1.50. So cheap!

Forth, place the patching lace
I try and error a lot before cutting the lace. After everything already set, then I cut the lace.

Fifth. sew the lace
How I sew it? I just use simple sewing method. Jelujur halus. Haha. I use only 1 thread. If use 2 threads, the patching lace will look ugly since the chiffon material is soft. If you scared the thread will broke and the lace will be out of place, no worries, you still have the beads to hold the lace.

Sixth, sew the beads
I just sew the beads anywhere I want. I like the sprinkle effect. Its easy and certainly do not need a lot of beads. And after finished sewing the beads, walla! My veil was ready to be worn!

So easy right? And it only cost RM88.40. Now you know and can do it with any color you want. So lets do another one for wedding or two maybe? Hee.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

current diy

>>  30 May 2012

This post will not be related to my engagement. I think I'm too tight up with the engagement work. So much that I think I'm not living my life properly. Messy bed, messy bedroom, upside down wardrobe and not eating healthily. For that reason, I'm taking one week break from the engagement related things which of course just a hope. Well I did success for 2 days. (^.^) So what did I do for the past 2 days? I was modifying my plain purple baju kurung which I wore during my friend's wedding last February into baju kurung with beadings. I will wear it this weekend for my cousin's wedding. So here the sneak peek.

haip! don't complain about the messy beadings

i use only 2 color of pearls beads

I will show the full shot later. Till then. Assalamualaikum.

eday preparation

>>  07 May 2012

Such a long holiday. 4 days. Hehuww. I just came back from my hometown. Took 1 day emergency leave since one of my relative passed away. Al-fatihah to my relative grandmother . May her soul blessed by Allah s.w.t.

I spent my holiday mostly browsing and shopping for the engagement. I bought quite a few things during this holiday. For the diy dais and the hantaran.

I bought the candle lantern, ribbon, span flower, 2 additional hantaran basket, flower span (notice the former and latter are different), tissue paper and more flowers. I was sooo happy buying all these stuffs. The shops were so near to my house and the prices are more cheaper or at least same as the one I bought at Nilai and Fah Lean Floral at Balakong. Seriously hujan emas definitely di negeri sendiri. lol

My eday outfit also already done. Well, done for the tailor part at least. For my part, I need to patch some lace and beadings. I already draft a bit.

not sewn yet. i just put the lace and the fabric flower. i hope after sewing, it wont go so messy and still nicely put like this.
candle lantern. one for RM21.80. i bought two at Kedai Warisan Sinar, Taman Samudera, Manjung. don't know whether the price is cheap or not, one thing I know if I want to rent it (if from somethingborrowedfrom nawal), for 1 candle lantern is RM10. Since she's staying in Putrajaya and I am in Subang, the fuel and toll cost can reach to RM50 (for pick up and return), so the total will be RM70. Pheww. Buying is more feasible.
excuse the messy bedsheet. all this cost RM10. bought at a shop BESIDE yun yun florist, Taman Samudera. The price is the same as Fah Lean Floral. In fact, there are more choices of flowers. Really. I just want to go again to the shop.
my humble partial diy handbouqet. lol. seriously don't have any idea on how to make this flowers more beautiful. i think for engagement is quite okay.
Okay enough with the update. Right now I really hope everything will go as planned since now my mom want to involve herself a lot in the engagement. She insisted on giving 7 hantaran  instead of 5 hantaran! (T_T) Mama, kakyang yang kena keluarkan duit. Wuwu.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

mini dais improvement

>>  12 April 2012

Do you really think sketching will help you buy only the necessary item? No it won't. It makes thing more complicated instead. I seriously have no idea what should I use to put the vase together with the flower for my dais later. First I wanted it to be the boxes then I wanted to use my mom's side tables. To begin with, my soon to be fiancee disliked the idea of using the side table. Perhaps it was because he never see my mom's side tables yet. They are so pretty and made from Jati wood okay. Heh. After browsing IKEA today there was no pretty boxes that fit my budget and suitable for my mini dais.So we moved on with having small side table in white color. I wanted TWO of the side table. But my soon to be fiancee thought it would be such a waste. So we only buy one. Grrr. He urged me to just use my creativity to do the decoration which I think I don't have.

My table is like this. I bought it at IKEA with only RM29.90. Not sure whether it was the promotion price or not.

Since I only have 1 side table for the dais, this gonna be my inspiration (to calm me and make me more confident with my dais later. Sob). Just that I won't have lots of flower like that.

I'm gonna have paper flower decoration like this for my backdrop. Need to arrange like this so that it will be balance. Oh by the way, I have four new vases. Hee. Two vases are glass type and the other two are white color. Awesome! I guess I need to put all four vases on the table like the second picture. For now I just hope everything will be well and I won't exceed my budget.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

mini dais sketch

>>  09 April 2012

Since I will DIY my own mini dais for the engagement, I did sketching first so that it will be easier for me to refer when I wanna buy the necessary item. I did 2 sketches.

this is the original sketch

the 2nd sketch which I use AutoCAD. Paint is so hard! Unable to move or copy the drawing

So what are the differences between this 2 dais? A lot! The first dais I wanted to use boxes to replace flower stand which ppl usually use in normal dais (erk. mine is not normal?) but I guess it is better to use the bedside table. Prettier and no need to buy the boxes. But still I haven't decide yet. Might change my mind if I find pretty boxes at IKEA.

Other differences are the round thingy beside the ottoman pillow. At first I wanted to use paper lantern. But I accidentally bought the grassy-like ball and also cushions so definitely need to improvise my dais a bit. Hehe. And the flower-like shape at the backdrop is the paper fan (?) which I will DIY myself. Already bought the paper. Hee.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

my first diy

>>  30 March 2012

I'm excited. Last night I slept very late to do my first DIY which is the fabric flower and today after come back from work, I did the tissue flower. Here they are:

Hihi. Since they are the first one so imperfection is everywhere! When you are doing the fabric flower make sure you cut your fabric at the right length so that you can get the flower effect illusion. Also don't forget to iron the edge of the fabric, the flower petals will look much better.

For the tissue flower, make sure you use more than 1 layer of tissue because if not, your flower won't look like flower, it will become flat and not pretty. Oh by the way, the yellow one is separate from the white flower. Both are tissue flower but with different method. Hihi.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.
