Spotlight Visit

>>  01 October 2014

We went to Spotlight in Ampang Point last two weeks. We didn't plan to buy anything, just wanted to feast our eyes. My opinion? It is a heaven for household fabrics! It has a lot of other things too but for me, that was the most interesting item. The fabrics were so wonderful, fabrics which I didn't see in other fabric store, fabrics which I only saw in Pinterest!

Crazy.

Here, feast your eyes with these pictures.

Lovely material for curtain. I love this a lot.

But our house later has minimalist and industrial theme in it, so I guess this will be more suitable.

They got plenty of fabrics for upholstery. I always like this kind of fabric for sofa, I hope we can put this type of fabric in our living room later, maybe for footstool perhaps?

I love mint green. This will be perfect for our daughter's room.

And this fabric for curtain as well. Cute and simple!

They also have word art. If we visit Spotlight again, I will definitely buy the word FAMILY there.

Black and white rug. After 40% off, I guessed the price was quite reasonable.

I always saw this type of rug in house decoration show  and I always wonder where can I find such jute rug in Malaysia. Now I found it, I'm so happy yey! But not sure whether it will be a perfect fit for our house's theme. Hehe. Still long way to go.

This red and beige rug was pretty too. Sigh.

I think Spotlight was quite a fun place to go. In case you want to buy something from the store, please register your name in their website to be part of their VIP member. You will get plenty of discount offered.

So now, what should I buy at Spotlight for our next visit?

Hmm.

Okay till then, Assalamualaikum.

Art on Wall

>>  02 April 2013

We have moved the ugly canvas picture from our living room wall and replaced it with three pictures of animals.

Heh.

Animals? They were all my husband's choice. I guess he thought the animal pictures were the indication of masculinity. It was so wrong actually. Okay before I tell the detail about where I got them printed, let see the pictures first.

See. What so nice about the pictures? Pftt.

I downloaded the pictures from websites and got them printed at www.eoe.com.my. The size for each of the pictures was 50 cm x 50 cm and they charged us RM42 for each of the pictures. So the total was RM126. Everything was done online through email. We exchanged a couple of email and after I was clear with everything, we sealed the deal.

The photo paper type was matte and I received them at my office door after 6 days of order submission through Skynet delivery.

So how about the quality of the pictures?

Not so good. We even think to email back and ask them to reprint but I was being nice lately so I didn't email. Just because I was so lazy to face any confrontation. I am usually so not like this.

The parcel arrived looking like the above picture. So annoying. They should secure the end of the package with something hard to avoid my pictures from being damaged at the edge. Pftt. But I guessed it might due to the delivery company. There was high chance they removed the cap to see what's inside.

See the white scratch? It wasn't a scratch. It was only a white line which caused by the printing problem and not from the delivery mistake. This was why we wanted it to be reprinted. You can definitely see it clearly in actual.

Okay enough with the whining about the printing company.

So after we placed the pictures on the frame, we hanged them onto the wall by making sure the height of the pictures were at our eye level. They can't be too high or too low. It can affect the balance on your wall. We definitely learned this from our experience in hanging the ugly canvas picture. Haha.

Okay, that's all.

Assalamualaikum.

Difference between Malay house and Western house

>>  28 March 2013

Okay since I watched and read a lot about house decoration by Western people, I noticed their house and our house has quite a substantial difference.

First, the bathroom decoration. Most western people decorate their bathroom. They love the bigger sink, the wallpaper and sometimes even putting a rug in the bathroom. You know why? Because the shower area is separated means the bathroom only get wet at the shower area only. But does this applicable to our bathroom in Malaysia? Of course not! Because our toilet also get wet since we use water to clean up after the natural call.

But I love the idea of decorating the bathroom. Most house in Malaysia neglect this which is so normal if you do. But I would love to decorate the bathroom when I have my own house. As for now, since I am renting, I don't want to waste energy and resource into the bathroom. Just keep it clean and practical is more than enough.

Okay the second one is the basement. Most landed houses in the West have basement. I still don't know why the houses there are designed with basement, I can only guess having a basement means you have more space because you utilize the vertical space of your land. Only some people have the finished basement while others don't. I am completely not okay with the unfinished basement because it means you have one area in your house that is not complete and of course the unfinished basement means dark and freaky atmosphere.

Since we live in Malaysia, it is very rare to find the house with basement. As for me, I don't want any basement because it would be too freaky for me. In fact when I have my own house, I want it to be only 1 storey.

And of course the last one is the muddy room. What is a muddy room? According to Wikipedia, a muddy room is a small area that separate the outdoor and indoor. It is where you put your shoes, coat, umbrella, and etc. I totally love this idea and I know some houses in Malaysia do this, which of course we don't need to hang any coat. Its totally doable and I definitely gonna apply this at my own house.

Okay happy decorating everyone.

Bye.

DIY : Fabric Covered Canvas

>>  25 March 2013

I had a DIY weekend last Saturday and Sunday. The first DIY was fabric covered canvas. I had one canvas picture which was so ugly and didn't deserve any space at my house. So instead of throwing it out to our store, we figured might as well do some DIY and turn it into fabric covered canvas. So we did!

First we searched for the right fabric for the canvas in Nagoya. We were going for cotton fabric or fabric that usually used for the curtain, thick and heavy fabric. Among the fabric for the curtains, we found a few that we like. The prices were around RM11.50 to RM24.90. The cotton fabric was a bit sheer, unable to cover the picture which already at the canvas. After a few minutes, we finally found the one.

Hee. Let's see the before and after picture.

Before.

After.

It is a zebra pattern. So bright and fresh. That was what we were going for.

We only used glue gun to attach the fabric. People normally used stapler gun but I don't have it so I just use the glue gun. DIY is about using what you have right? Haha.

This was the first DIY of the weekend.

Will post about the second one soon.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

House Warming at IKEA Sample House

>>  19 March 2013

Hahaha. I am kidding. It was not really an Ikea Sample House. It was my friend's house. I called it as IKEA Sample House because almost all the furniture, the accessories and the rugs were bought at Ikea. How cool is that.

Among the dishes that day. I brought the cheesetart which I ordered online. I especially love the glass dispenser. It looks chic to me. The dining table was MELLTORP/LAVEL from IKEA. If you notice on the left was an EXPEDIT 2 by 4 bookcase. She made it as the divider. How awesome. I was thinking to copy the idea with different color. Hihihi.

The girls who came over that day. Please spot the EKTORP Two Seat Sofa in Pink and POANG Armchair. Nice combination.

Above picture is the only full view I have. All the rugs above were from IKEA. I love the LAPPLJUNG Ruta rug especially. The black and white color will match my living room but of course after we hang our black and white pictures. Major love.

If you are a big fan of IKEA, you will definitely know the above shelving units were from IKEA. We (housemate) gave her the shelving unit on the left. I love how she arrange her items on these two shelves. They looked balance and colourful.

The red and black frame was not there in the beginning. We just ask her to move so that we can see it clearly. It was from her wedding. My husband especially love it. It suits her character and of course their house.

Not only her living room and dining room utilized items from IKEA, her kitchen and bedroom also used items from IKEA. I love how she coordinate the colors. Her living room had turquoise and pink color. So vibrant and gave the feeling of happiness when you stepped inside her house.

Okey that's all. Bye!

More on house decoration : Black and white frame

>>  14 March 2013

There wasn't much going on with my life as of lately. I was just busy with work, training and test. Being a young adult, the focus of life is work I guess? But not for me. My focus is to have a balance life. Give your 100% at work during work time and give your 100% for leisure during leisure time. Some people can work until 10-11 pm everyday, for the sake of giving more than 100% at work and also to earn more money. I respect that. It is just depends on what you want in your life. My mother and father in law are like that. They work until 9 pm and even on weekend! Haha. I guess age doesn't have to do with this.

Okay what is the connection with the black and white frame? As I mentioned in my previous post, my passion now is in house decoration. How I wish  I have my own house now where I can do a lot of things like painting, nailing, installing kitchen cabinet and much more. But as of now, I just want to hang up a nice picture on my wall in my living room.

Currently, I hang this ugly canvas picture on the wall.

The size is small and the picture give the feeling of dark, lonely and it almost like the tree murdered someone.

On other note, check out my new red cushion. I just bought it at Jusco with the price of RM21.90. It's Ann Taylor if I'm not mistaken. Other cushions I got them at Nilai and two of it were free. While the cushion covers I bought at Kaison. I don't think I like those black and white cushions. I will get rid of them during Raya. Haha.

I went to IKEA the other day since IKEA was having their yearly sale. Other than taking the opportunity to buy cheaper items, I also went around surveying their rug. I love my carpet but I just don't think it is pretty enough. I just want something plain instead of stripy like mine now.

I also bought picture frames to hang on my wall here. Hee. We are low on budget now so we just bought the cheap one. Really cheap. We bought three.

It only cost RM19.90/pcs. Can go here for more details about the frame. So right now we just have to print what pictures we want to put on these frame.

I have done a few survey on pictures I like and these three are among the first batch.

You might wondering these are not three. What I mean by three is there are three combinations. First combination is abstract picture, the second one is the zebra picture while the last one is the combination of lion, tiger and zebra.

Which combination is the best? If me, I would select the abstract one. But my husband is not too keen about it. He like the last one the most. Pftt.

Okay can wait when they hang on our wall.

Bye.

Assalamualaikum.

Obsess with House Decoration

>>  27 February 2013

I've been obsessed with house decoration for quite some time now. By that I mean after getting married. The Life Inspired channel has been my favorite channel now. I watched Pure Design, Secrets From A Stylists, Design Wars, For Rent, Love It or List It and a lot more. You name it, I watched it. So I guess I am quite good in decorating my house. Hahaha. No I'm not!

The thing is we just bought a new canvas picture to hang on our wall in the living room, but the color is black and got a hint of red. We don't have any red item in our living room. So it doesn't match to anything. I wanted to match it with a red cushion. I searched at Kaison but they didn't have it in red color with the fabric I liked. So until now my living room is still an unfinished area for us. We also bought a green leaves to put in our glass vase. I love the leaves so much. It gives a good fresh feeling when I'm looking at my living room.

See my leaves there? Hihi
So the leaves need to match with something green as well. But as usual I don't have it. What I have are mostly cream in color (recycle from my wedding). I feel so eager now to search for something red and green.

Like this.

Or something like this clock to put on my wall:

Where can I get such cushion cover? I'm thinking of DIY-ing it. Haha.

And looking at this picture, I realize my curtain looks so busy. I might wanna change it into a plain color curtain. Maybe during raya? Insyaallah.

Okay till then, Assalamualaikum.
