Looking for Microwave Stand

>>  06 November 2014

Currently I'm living in a rental apartment  and unfortunately there is no built in kitchen cabinet that comes with it. So we have to be creative in storing our stuff and make sure furniture we bought can be used to its optimum.

So far we put our stuff like kitchen equipment, rice, pots and cleaning stuff on Hyllis rack by Ikea. The rack is made from galvanized steel and is not so sturdy. So we don't put big equipment on it. We put this rack in the laundry room next to the kitchen. And we have two of this rack. Our laundry room is quite big. My fridge and washing machine are also here.

We also have two cabinets to put our glass hob and also stores our foods and serveware. One of which we bought from furniture shop and the other one is Expedit from Ikea. We also use the Expedit as our kitchen counter to do chopping work.

The problem is we just bought a new microwave last 2 weeks and there is no space for it. So since I don't have any work now, I'm looking for one from the net. And of course, my favourite website will be Ikea.

The most important thing I look at is the measurement. I don't want it to be too big since I will put it near the door so the passage to the door shouldn't be interrupted. It also need it to fit the microwave depth.

So here is my choice:

From google

From google

I love this. Kallax. The measurement is just nice for my microwave and the look is very simple. It just that I already have Expedit (previous design for Kallax) in my kitchen and the location which I want to put the microwave stand is next to my sink. The material for Kallax is not water proof. So we thought why not add some leg. Bam! Yes, adding leg to it should help reduce the splash of water problem. Hihi.

I also found a few interesting microwave stands from the net.

This one is from Ikea too but quite small for my microwave and it has castor below. So I don't think its child friendly
This guy turned two benches into one. Awesome.
2 Lack coffee tables converted into kitchen cart
I haven't bought mine yet. I hope my husband wont change his mind. Hihi. I might share how my rental kitchen looks like soon.

Till then, Assalamualaikum.

Our Bedroom

>>  09 April 2014

I'm still renting right now and with new commitment as parent, we don't think we can afford to buy our own house very soon. So we are still living in our first apartment. Small but enough.

Our room, the master bedroom even it is the largest room in the house, it is still crowded. And with Aisyah's presence, the room become much smaller. Not that I'm complaining, I still feel content that we have a house to live in. Alhamdulillah.

Aisyah was in her dreamland. So cute.

Quite compact right? Worry not, we still have space to pray at the carpet area. We seldom put Aisyah's rocker in the room.

Previously before Aisyah was born, we put laundry basket at the chest of drawer area there and clothes hanger at the cot area. Now, we just put our towel at the back of the door and changed our laundry basket into smaller one and fit it behind the door. So this room still serves its old purpose but with additional purpose.

I put all Aisyah's clothes and stuff like her towels, blankets, handkerchief and toys inside the chest of drawer. We bought the chest of drawer from IKEA at RM299. We purposely chose white so that it can camouflage like the wall and doesn't make the view crowded. So as the curtain. Haha. Above the chest of drawer, I only put lamp and Aisyah's essential to bath and change diapers. Not too keen on putting a lot of thing so open.

All our clothes (me and husband) fit in the wardrobe there. I don't hang our clothes. I just fold them neatly to save space. And also my husband's clothes are not that much so that explain why both our clothes can fit in there. Hehe.

Our bedroom set also came with dressing table. Since this dressing table provides the rack to arrange our stuff, so I just use it but sometimes I did feel its a bit eyesore to left our stuff open like that. But what to do, the rack also quite convenient in helping us reaching to our stuff in the morning. I also put wall clock on top of the dressing table. The reason is my husband doesn't want to drill the wall. That's explain why our wall is so naked without any picture or anything.

I guess I need to find a way to brighten up our wall.

Hehe.

Okay till then, Assalamualaikum.

Art on Wall

>>  02 April 2013

We have moved the ugly canvas picture from our living room wall and replaced it with three pictures of animals.

Heh.

Animals? They were all my husband's choice. I guess he thought the animal pictures were the indication of masculinity. It was so wrong actually. Okay before I tell the detail about where I got them printed, let see the pictures first.

See. What so nice about the pictures? Pftt.

I downloaded the pictures from websites and got them printed at www.eoe.com.my. The size for each of the pictures was 50 cm x 50 cm and they charged us RM42 for each of the pictures. So the total was RM126. Everything was done online through email. We exchanged a couple of email and after I was clear with everything, we sealed the deal.

The photo paper type was matte and I received them at my office door after 6 days of order submission through Skynet delivery.

So how about the quality of the pictures?

Not so good. We even think to email back and ask them to reprint but I was being nice lately so I didn't email. Just because I was so lazy to face any confrontation. I am usually so not like this.

The parcel arrived looking like the above picture. So annoying. They should secure the end of the package with something hard to avoid my pictures from being damaged at the edge. Pftt. But I guessed it might due to the delivery company. There was high chance they removed the cap to see what's inside.

See the white scratch? It wasn't a scratch. It was only a white line which caused by the printing problem and not from the delivery mistake. This was why we wanted it to be reprinted. You can definitely see it clearly in actual.

Okay enough with the whining about the printing company.

So after we placed the pictures on the frame, we hanged them onto the wall by making sure the height of the pictures were at our eye level. They can't be too high or too low. It can affect the balance on your wall. We definitely learned this from our experience in hanging the ugly canvas picture. Haha.

Okay, that's all.

Assalamualaikum.

DIY : Fabric Covered Canvas

>>  25 March 2013

I had a DIY weekend last Saturday and Sunday. The first DIY was fabric covered canvas. I had one canvas picture which was so ugly and didn't deserve any space at my house. So instead of throwing it out to our store, we figured might as well do some DIY and turn it into fabric covered canvas. So we did!

First we searched for the right fabric for the canvas in Nagoya. We were going for cotton fabric or fabric that usually used for the curtain, thick and heavy fabric. Among the fabric for the curtains, we found a few that we like. The prices were around RM11.50 to RM24.90. The cotton fabric was a bit sheer, unable to cover the picture which already at the canvas. After a few minutes, we finally found the one.

Hee. Let's see the before and after picture.

Before.

After.

It is a zebra pattern. So bright and fresh. That was what we were going for.

We only used glue gun to attach the fabric. People normally used stapler gun but I don't have it so I just use the glue gun. DIY is about using what you have right? Haha.

This was the first DIY of the weekend.

Will post about the second one soon.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

More on house decoration : Black and white frame

>>  14 March 2013

There wasn't much going on with my life as of lately. I was just busy with work, training and test. Being a young adult, the focus of life is work I guess? But not for me. My focus is to have a balance life. Give your 100% at work during work time and give your 100% for leisure during leisure time. Some people can work until 10-11 pm everyday, for the sake of giving more than 100% at work and also to earn more money. I respect that. It is just depends on what you want in your life. My mother and father in law are like that. They work until 9 pm and even on weekend! Haha. I guess age doesn't have to do with this.

Okay what is the connection with the black and white frame? As I mentioned in my previous post, my passion now is in house decoration. How I wish  I have my own house now where I can do a lot of things like painting, nailing, installing kitchen cabinet and much more. But as of now, I just want to hang up a nice picture on my wall in my living room.

Currently, I hang this ugly canvas picture on the wall.

The size is small and the picture give the feeling of dark, lonely and it almost like the tree murdered someone.

On other note, check out my new red cushion. I just bought it at Jusco with the price of RM21.90. It's Ann Taylor if I'm not mistaken. Other cushions I got them at Nilai and two of it were free. While the cushion covers I bought at Kaison. I don't think I like those black and white cushions. I will get rid of them during Raya. Haha.

I went to IKEA the other day since IKEA was having their yearly sale. Other than taking the opportunity to buy cheaper items, I also went around surveying their rug. I love my carpet but I just don't think it is pretty enough. I just want something plain instead of stripy like mine now.

I also bought picture frames to hang on my wall here. Hee. We are low on budget now so we just bought the cheap one. Really cheap. We bought three.

It only cost RM19.90/pcs. Can go here for more details about the frame. So right now we just have to print what pictures we want to put on these frame.

I have done a few survey on pictures I like and these three are among the first batch.

You might wondering these are not three. What I mean by three is there are three combinations. First combination is abstract picture, the second one is the zebra picture while the last one is the combination of lion, tiger and zebra.

Which combination is the best? If me, I would select the abstract one. But my husband is not too keen about it. He like the last one the most. Pftt.

Okay can wait when they hang on our wall.

Bye.

Assalamualaikum.

Astro Installer's Messy Work

>>  14 January 2013

Read the title? Yeah. This is a post dedicated to all Astro Installers who do messy works while installing Astro at their client's house.

Last Saturday Astro Installer came to our house to install a new player. It was the second time. The first time was when they installed the BYOND player. But since hubby wanted to record some series so we requested to change into the PVR. (Another reason is to avoid us fighting over the remote control. lol.)

Anyway, to change from BYOND player to PVR, they charged RM50 for the installation fee.

Installing the PVR requires them to drill another hole in our wall. I completely didn't know about that. I thought they just change the player. But my hubby was the one who incharged of this Astro thing. I guess he was okay with drilling another hole at the rent house.

So when the guy from Astro drilled the new hole, he seemed to have problem in getting the drill towards the end. It was so hard. He kept pushing it. Erh. By that time the hole already become large. Poor my wall! In my heart that time, I was wondering why he was so stupid and didn't try to see the other end of the wall.

Seeing his friend took a lot of time to drill the hole, his partner (the Assistant Installer) tried to drill as well. This time he tilted the drill a bit. He also had quite a hard time to drill it but he kept pushing it. And kept making the hole bigger! While the assistant drilling it, the installer went out to see the other end of the wall. And it already went to other side of the wall!

HOW STUPID!

An Astro Installer didn't know how to drill!

It was so terrible. I was so mad. I did mentioned to them, "how it was so messy ,this is a rent house, what should I say to the owner about this" But I didn't want to appear so mad, so I just said it once. But they definitely can see my mad face throughout the whole process.

Want some proof?

Here.

There are 3 holes. The most top hole is the hole drilled during the first time. It was the wrong hole! The middle hole is the correct hole. The last hole is the hole done by the stupid Astro Installer. Such a big hole! Mind you, our house is a new house. You can see my wall is quite dirty and there is some dislodged paint there. The Astro Installer caused it.
Sigh.

Erh

The ultimate ERH

And did they said sorry? No at all!

So what did I do?

I called their customer service and made a complaint towards the Astro Installer. I also tried to post the picture at the Astro fb but it didn't come out. Pfft.

I am completely disappointed  with Astro Installer.

Okay bye. Assalamualaikum.

Our House

>>  13 December 2012

If you remember this post, I just want to inform my furniture already arrived.

So how about the quality? The service?

Let me begin one by one.

CAVENZI promised to send our furniture on 4th December 2012 and one day before the day, they called us to make full payment. So we made the full payment. After we made the payment, they informed our bedroom furniture was not yet ready and needed to be delivered next week.

Notice their trick there? They urged us to make the full payment first and then only they informed us they cannot commit.

But I was completely okay with it. I didn't want to force them to quickly send my furniture. The furniture can wait. What I want is good quality of items I bought. And my husband and I also thought they were late because they did the wrong order since in the package it was a different bedroom set.

In the first phone call, they said they could deliver our bedroom set on 6th December 2012. So we waited. But in the morning of 6th December, we still didn't get phone call from them. So I called. Turned out our bedroom set wasn't ready yet and they said they never mentioned to us it could be delivered today. I was mad. Then who was the person talking to me and my husband on the phone saying it can be delivered on 6th? Since the bedroom set wasn't ready yet, we agreed for it to be sent on 12th December 2012 (grooms' reception was on 9th).

Want to see the furniture? Here.

the leren sofa, the dining set, coffee table, rack and tv cabinet

got some minor defect on the tv cabinet

the bedroom set which just arrive yesterday
Our house after adding the carpet and flower

My review on the quality of furniture?

We both love the leren sofa. It looks expensive. Same as the dining set. I especially love the glass table. It is black and looks exclusive. I also love the cover of the chair as it was soft and comfortable (it was PU leather I suppose).

TV cabinet got some minor defect which situated at the back. So it was quite unnoticed.

For bedroom set, I guess it is as expected and with no major defect.

Okay I guess that's it, the review of my new furniture.

Furniture Shopping

>>  12 November 2012

Okay last Saturday me and my fiance went to settle our apartment agreement and get our key from the owner. The agreement was standard but there were some typo and confusing things stated in the agreement. Using term in the English literature or the one in the Malaysia Constitutional. We were reading with our eyebrows wrinkled literally, in the heart, "Man, what the hell is this?!". Pftt.

Anyhow, our tenancy agreement starts on 15th November 2012. We could move in our things by last week actually since we already got the key but since we had another agenda, maybe on 4th December we will start move in things.

Why? Because yesterday was the last day we gonna see each other until we get married. Not much different actually. I was too busy with preparations. Might not feel miss him so much. On top of that, only 3 weeks left. Hahaha. PANIC.

Okay lets move on to furniture shopping.

I thought we will survey to few shops first before decided on which one but no we're not! We only went to one shop and we settled for our furniture there.  On top of that, we were way out of budget. Erk. Impulse buying or wise buying perhaps? Wuwu. We went to CAVENZI. At first our plan was to survey for BEDROOM SET + MATTRESS ONLY but we got hooked with their offer and the promoter seem so pushy.

We really showed we reluctant to buy it. But they never gave up. Haha. In the end, I said "Its okay" and wanted to go out from the shop but the promoter suddenly offered to us a deal that was quite hard to say NO. So yeah we bought them.

So what did we buy?

A bedroom set + mattress
A dining table 1+6
A 3+2 seater sofa
A coffee table, a book rack and TV cabinet

All for RM3099.

Cheap or reasonable?

Okay here the pictures.

this is the bedroom set we chose. except ours is white in color and doesn't have 3D texture like that. only PU

so this is the whole set in white color. A DIVAN bed. Simple I know.

Sofa. A Leren leather which I'm not sure what the hell was that. We chose black color.

The dining set. It is a simple 1+6 dining set. I hope the tables and chairs are sturdy.

Free mattress. I really hope the mattress we gonna get is good. Usually free things are not that nice.

the coffee table

the book shelf

the TV cabinet
We will get all of them on 4th December 2012. We hope they are all in good conditions. Really scare because I've been heard a lot of bad reviews about CAVENZI. I have quite a bad temper for vendors or for those who work in customer service, so I hope they will deliver their best service and products to us.

Pheww.

Okay. Till then. Assalamualaikum.

Item Needed in New House for New Couple

>>  09 November 2012

Haha. The tittle explained it all. Since we will move to a new house as a newly wed couple, we need to have a lot of things. We can no longer leave like the bachelor. If have, its good. If don't have, just live without it. We can't be like that.

So we have come out with few things needed for the new house. Only the most important things will buy. Other than that, let just wait until bonus or something. lol

So what are they?

Kitchen
1.Small kitchen cabinet
2. Kitchen gas hob (dapur gas) (my fiance's friend asked us what we want and we said we want this! haha. the thin grey finishing pls)
3. Fridge ( I have small mini bar fridge, this one can delay. just use the small one first)
4. Kitchen utensils
5. Frying pan
6. Multipurpose cooker (I hope my mom will give me this as wedding gift)
7. Rice cooker ( I already have)
8. Dining table and chair

Living Room
1. TV
2. Carpet
3. Sofa (might need to delay this, can't afford one now) (but still, when I have time, I love to survey)
4. Curtain
5. Vacuum (can someone give me this for wedding?)

Bedroom
1. Bedroom set + mattress (this is a must have for newly wed. Hahaha)
2. Curtain
3. Bedsheet + comforter (I'm sure my sisters will give me this. They love this kind of thing)
4. Iron (I already have)

Toilet
1. Washing machine (I think thats all. Haha. Can't think of others. I'm sure we have the essential one)

Seem not much? Try to count the total. It should be more than RM7k. And plus the deposit which almost reach RM3k. So the total for house alone is RM10k! And if we add the expenses for wedding, my side is almost RM10k. And his side is more than RM30k (plus hantaran for me). So imagine how much you need to start a new life?

RM50k.

Freakin expensive kan?

Haha.

Don't freak out. Allah will always there to help those who wanna get married. But remember don't waste your money. Always use it wisely.

Like me, if I can do it on my own, I will do it. If can wear cheap shoe and still looked good, why not?
What matter is what Allah think about us. And of course what you want too.

So go on and calculate how your expenses will be.

Good luck.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

House Hunting

>>  07 November 2012

Me and my fiance went for house hunting last week. The criteria of the house we were looking for was cheap, good environment, clean, near my office and of course safe. So we tried to search in Mudah, Iproperty and asking friends and colleagues.

We managed to finalized two houses to view on the weekend.

First house viewed on last Friday night. We found this one in Mudah. It stated there it was an apartment but the moment we arrived, I knew it was actually only a flat house. Things got worse when suddenly there was cockroach flying on the back of my fiance. Haha.

But I didn't want to jump into any conclusion yet. So we followed the owner to his apartment, entered the lift and arrived at the apartment level. The surrounding was so messy and dirty. People hanged their clothes like nobody business. Oh man, it was truly a flat like I saw in TV. Then we entered the house. It was the apartment at the end of the corridor. So it was kinda private. I like that. They moved out from the house almost one year. Just came to mop the floor or hang out for a while. But it was kinda dusty there. And dead cockroaches were everywhere. The paint already torn apart and some of their old furniture were still there. It was messy. But thinking of cheap rent offered and we knew this house can be better if we clean it, we told the owner we want to make the deal.

But the owner keep saying this,

" Tengokla kalau ada rezeki"

" Esok ada tiga orang lagi nak tengok, kalau dorg nak tengok, kita bagi jela tengok" (erk, we want to seal the deal, hello?)

"Kot2 kalau ada orang nak up lagi" (excuse me?)

We promised to pay the deposit as soon as we can since we really want the house. Even without agreement. But after discussing with fiance and asking opinion from housemate and my mom, we cancelled. Mom said this kind of people only want money, who knew later he will suddenly ask us to move out. Really true. It can really happen.

If you wondering, the rent was RM600.

Then the next morning, we went to another apartment. It was a new apartment. The rent was more expensive than the previous one. But the moment we arrived there, we fell in love with the apartment. It had surau, basketball court, swimming pool, designated parking and security guard. It was really nice. It also had balcony, not like before. So when the owner came, we took the lift and followed her to her apartment. It was a new empty apartment. The owner already installed the fan and the grill. And it was a lot bigger than previous one. Since we loved it so much, and since there was agent, we paid the booking fee immediately. It was a lot easier when there was agent. Everything was documented.

The rent? RM750.

Alhamdulillah. Now we have a house to live in. Hihi. Can't wait to decorate the house.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.
