Raya Celebration 2015

>>  23 July 2015

I'm at work now. So I will just write my post very briefly.

This year Raya we went back to Johor first. We had our last day of break fast in Ayer Baloi, Johor, asked forgiveness (salam) on the first day of Raya. We ate variety of food like lemang, ketupat, lontong and rendang. In the afternoon around 2pm, we went to our relative's houses in Johor Bahru, there were total of 5 houses that day. We went back to our homestay around 10pm. Phew. Thank goodness we went back to our homestay in the afternoon to freshen up a bit before continuing with our Raya journey.

Ooops Aisyah had high fever three days before Raya and she still had it on the first day of Raya. Her highest temperature was 40 deg C. We kept sponging her. Doctor said the fever was due to the ulcer at her throat. She didn't want to eat or drink. We had to force her to drink. I think our biggest mistake was we didn't find the solution for the not eat part. She had empty stomach and we still gave her paracetamol. She ended up had stomachache on the night of Raya and could only sleep at 4am. So the next day, my husband suggested we gave her mashed potato and she ate! I think because mashed potato texture is so smooth, so it was easier for her to swallow it. We also gave her ice cream, our cousin said it could help soothe the ulcer a bit. Well it did! The night of the first raya, she started to recover and played with us a bit. Alhamdulillah.

On the second day of Raya we still celebrated it in Johor. Like a tradition, we visited our relatives in Pontian, had our awesome breakfast there. My husband's aunt served the guests like a hotel buffet. I really appreciated it. Thank you thank you. Then we went to another relative's house for lunch where she served the guests with nasi minyak. So happy with the Raya food. Hehe. That night we had BBQ with panoramic view of fireworks before heading back to Subang.

We slept at Subang before heading back to Perak the next day. We washed our clothes and sorted our stuff.  Just to rejuvenate ourself a bit.

After breakfast at KFC, we headed back to Perak. It was a bit jammed. There were a lot of cars. Thanks husband for driving throughout this Raya season. He had red eye due to tiredness according to doctor and was given 2 days MC. Poor husband.

My mom cooked laksa Johor that day. I was craving for laksa since Ramadhan. So after we arrived mom's house, I quickly went to the kitchen and ate laksa Johor like there's no tomorrow. There were total of 4 plates of laksa Johor I ate that day. Hahaha.

The next day we went back to kampung at Manong, Perak mainly to visit my grandfather who was sick. His condition was quite bad. He had mild fever, couldn't talk properly, didn't want to eat, just lying down and his hand was shaky. My mom looked so sad seeing my grandfather like that. I too feel sad. Last time I visited him, he was far from that condition. There's a lot of things going through my mind that time. Allahuakbar. May Allah ease his journey, Amin.

We went back to Subang the next day. We knew it gonna be quite jam if we travel in the evening. So we chose to travel in the afternoon. Alhamdulillah we managed to avoid the jam.

Ok that's all for my Raya.

Ooops here some pictures.

Last but not least, haha!

Raya Preparation

>>  03 July 2015

Hi all,

So now we are in the midst of fasting month, I believe everyone is quite busy with Syawal preparation too. Same like the previous years, my family will have 4 raya outfits . Our theme this year for the first day of Syawal is Teal. The other themes are White, Yellow and Navy Blue. I already bought mine. Two of it I bought the fabrics and send to tailor, but I kinda dissatisfied with the final outcome from one of them. So I bought a new one from Zalora, which I just receive it yesterday. The other two I just bought it online. I think its quite difficult to buy clothes offline these days. Haha.

Aisyah only left with one more outfit - her navy blue. Last Syawal, we also bought pants for her but this time around we just want to buy dresses for her. I like it when she's wearing dress. Look so cute and girlish. While for my husband, he still has 3 more outfits to buy. He is a big fan of UNIQLO brand because the cutting of UNIQLO shirt is quite small, so I guess he will just get them there.

As for kuih raya, we don't buy any kuih raya for our house. Except maybe one or two for our parents. Last year, we only receive one visit to our house during raya. So I guess it will be the same like last year. So kuih raya is off the list. Can save some money here. Hehe.

Last but not least is the green packet. This year we will prepare them quite early because previous years, everything was so last minute. This year we will change the money early and pack it in the green packet before headed back to our hometown for Syawal celebration.

Ooops before I forget, I already bought my shoes too. Finding the right shoes for me was always difficult so this time around I bought it early. Same goes for all my hijab too. Hehe.

Another thing I think is the car. The car almost reach its milestone service limit. Might need to book for our service appointment next week before Syawal week. Sigh.

Okay, no pictures hehe.

Till then, Assalamualaikum.

Raya 2014

>>  07 August 2014

This year Raya was not as festive as before. Other than baju raya, everything else was quite last minute. I didn't buy any kuih raya, only my husband bought it. He bought four jars of kuih raya, of which two of them got destroyed when he involved in accident (I will post about it soon, he got accident just 6 days before raya). So we left with two jars of kuih raya only. Tsk tsk. But due to my husband's accident, his colleagues gave 2 jars of kuih raya and his auntie also gave one jar. Alhamdulillah we have 5 jars of kuih raya this year. I know, not that much but at least we have. Hee.

Other than kuih raya, was duit raya. We were so busy that we didn't have time to convert our money during the last 2 weeks before raya. Some more my husband involved in accident, so yeah converting money was really not that important that time. But I knew I will be so frustrated if I can't give duit raya to my little siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, so I asked help from my sister and mother. Alhamdulillah they managed to help us. Thank you thank you. Still not enough, my husband asked help from his father too. So yeah, our duit raya was settled too. Alhamdulillah.

This year the first day of Raya was at my hometown Manjung. We went back to my hometown on Saturday (Raya was on Monday). We reached home around 8 pm from my house in Subang at 2 pm. Jam was not terrible, it was just because we stopped a lot. Since my husband still couldn't move his hand so well, so I drove. And it was quite difficult in the beginning. Aisyah cried loudly for about half an hour because she needed my attention and she didn't like sitting in her carseat. My husband's wound was still hurt so he couldn't hold Aisyah. But Alhamdulillah, we still manage to go back for Raya.

Thank you thank you Allah.

On the first day of Raya, we woke up around 645 am, prayed for Subuh and prepared to go back to my mom's hometown in Manong. I actually said to my mom, we gonna start the engine at 7 am. Haha. Such dream. And it took us 1 hour and a half to reach there. Food for the day were lemang, nasi dagang and laksa. I ate nasi dagang and laksa. Hee.

This year raya, the first day only me and my unmarried brothers at home. Others were at their partner's side.

My youngest brother Farhan stayed at home since he slept late playing video game. Pftt.

Second day of Raya we just stayed at home lazying around. Eh we also went shopping a bit.

While the third day of Raya, we started travel to my husband's hometown in Melaka. We moved from house around 11am, got our car washed, stopped at Ipoh visiting my husband's auntie, got our tyre fixed and continued travelling to Melaka. We reached Melaka around 10pm. It was almost 12 hours in the car! But it was alright since my husband drove. Hehe.

So officially it was fourth day of Raya we celebrated in Melaka. As usual Raya in Melaka was quite hectic.

The first picture was in the morning while the second picture was at night. See my pale face. Erh. But Aisyah looked happy.

I think we went to 7 houses on the fourth raya but last 5 houses we only took average around 15 minutes at their houses. Haha. My parent in law were so rushing since my mother in law's sister already on her way to our house. What I can learn from visiting relative's houses in Melaka were:

1. All drink is carbonated drink. Seriously, ALL.
2. Visiting old relatives make me feel I need to take care of myself better while I am young. Balance and healthy lifestyle. I don't wanna be sick when I'm old (in case I'm still alive).
3. Appreciate your old one especially during Raya. Don't let them alone. Please be with them. During our visit, there was one grandmother cried, no families with her at the house ( I just suspect it was due to that, oldies are sensitive kan, hmm).

After we finished visiting the 7 houses, we went back home since our relatives from Johor already waiting. Food for them? KFC only. Hehe. No time to cook lah.

Just after relatives from Johor went back, relatives from Melaka came to visit! Wahh back to back. So many cars arrived, my father in law even top up the meal. They performed solat jemaah and played fireworks. Aisyah was not that shocked hearing the fireworks to my surprise. She was quite cool. No crying at all.
Then its end of the day. Alhamdulillah,

Okay that's all story for my Raya.

Thank you for reading.

Bye, Assalamualaikum.

Baju Raya 2014

>>  29 May 2014

Have you bought your raya outfit already? Fasting month is just around the corner, only end of June. I bought mine already. My small family I mean. We bought our raya outfit last March. So fast kan? Because I scared no one want to take order if we are so late. We just bought one outfit for the first raya. Other outfits we will just buy the ready made one.

We bought the material from Jakel. Since this year is the first raya with my princess Aisyah, I wanted to make sure we are all matchy matchy. So the same material was used for mommy and Aisyah. Our raya's fabric were sent to tailor on April and after one month, the tailor already done with our outfit. So fast! Alhamdulillah.

How about daddy's baju melayu? Its from Jakel too but that one is a ready made. He bought it at RM150 only and its from Aaron Aziz line. So the quality is good and got his size, XS. Yes, my husband is that small. (T_T).

This gonna be our theme color for this year. Champagne. One is cotton fabric (to match with Aisyah, baby can easily get sweat you know) and another one is satin.

Simple fabric design right? We just didn't know which fabric to choose! Most of the cotton fabric's design at Jakel looked kinda not suitable for baby. And if it does, it just doesn't come with champagne color. So to be safe, we just chose this one hehe.

I think Aisyah gonna look cute on Raya.

Hihi.

Ok that's all.

Till then, Assalamualaikum.

My Raya 2012

>>  25 August 2012

My Hari Raya this year was modest and not much different from previous raya. I seriously think my family members were more excited during Ramadhan compared to Aidilfitri.  I believe it was because the emergence of Aidilfitri signifies the end of excitement in celebration of fasting every day. Its like now-we-no longer-have-anything-to-celebrate kind of mind set.
On other note,do you know why people celebrate Aidilfitri with a lot of foods and beautiful clothes? Know? Don't know? Well, it is because Allah will reward people with pahala when people celebrate Aidilfitri with happiness and wearing the nicest clothes they have. It's true. And I just knew it. Ergh. I'm so gonna celebrate my Aidilfitri with loads of happiness next year.

Well double happiness since I will be with the husband. Hihi.

As family tradition during Hari Raya, first thing in the morning we had our breakfast ; ate lemang and other main dishes, asked forgiveness from each other and headed back to my kampung. After some eating and some gossiping with the relatives, later in the evening we went back to our house. My kampung is only 1 hour from the house and my mom really hate going out at night, so we need to rush back that evening too. Then on the 3rd raya, it was the turn for my relatives to gather at our house. My mom cooked laksa Johor.  My all-time favourite dish! I ate 3 times. Hahaha.

Okay some Raya pictures.

our theme is pink! me not in the picture. so lazy to set the camera

okay now my turn. my two other sis and their husband were at their in-law house. so only five of us celebrate Raya on the first day

at my aunt's house in Manong. hey whats up with the staring bro

With lil sis

even the picture is shaky, I still want to show how my sibling need to ask forgiveness from me. hahaha
I felt a bit sad tho since I only had 1 baju raya this year and I didn't even buy a new tudung for Raya! Grrr.
I am so gonna take revenge and buy a lot of baju raya next year. Hihi.

Okay sleepy.

Lets go to sleep.

Bye.

Till then. Assalamualaikum.

Baju Raya

>>  19 July 2012

Ramadhan is coming. Usually by this time, I already send my baju raya to tailor but not this year. Sigh. Was too busy with wedding thing until don't have time to think about raya. And now is too late to send. All tailor don't want to take anymore.

What to do? What option I have?

I dislike the ready made baju kurungs because of the design. I don't feel comfortable wearing it to work because I feel like I am going to peoples' wedding or raya. Too glamour. I'm the type of people who love being practical. Things I buy must have long term benefit. For baju kurung, I like it to be kurung moden. Not too glamorous and simple. Gedik.

So this raya I think I will shift to simple kaftan or just buy some maxi dress from poplook.

Can ah like that? Heh..

Before I go, feast your eyes with these beauties:

oh baju kurung. how come so nice

i already got one like this in pink blush

this is too glamour and too pretty! might as well be my solemnization outfit. lol

Bye ppl.

Assalamualaikum.
